Blindness and leprosy were two major ailments which affected the Indian people the most in the early days. Dr. Karl Becker, founder of Siloam Mission to the blind and lepers, visited India to attend Eye camps conducted by Dr Sarojini Thomas in the early 80's and joined hands with her to establish Siloam Thomas Eye Hospital in 1984

The hospital has so far conducted more than 900 free eye camps, screened more than 2 lakhs patients and performed more than 30000 free cataract surgeries. The hospital is recognized by DBCS ( District Blindness Control Society ) Coimbatore chapter.

Mr. Richard Norton is the Head of Siloam Christian Ministries, United Kingdom is carrying on the Siloam Mission started by Rev. Karl Becker, Germany. He has been visiting India for the last 2 decades and has actively participated in Free Eye Camps conducted by Siloam Thomas Eye Hospital during his visits every year. He is presently a Major Supporter of the Eye Care Ministry of the hospital. He collects Voluntary Donations from Well Wishers and Philanthropists from the UK and continues to support our hospital from time to time. He has been instrumental in supplying an Advanced Glaucoma Testing Machine called the GDx by Carl Zeiss in 2012.

TV Suresh was extremely delighted to note that Siloam Thomas Eye Hospital is inaugurating a new state of the art equipment called Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). At the outset on my personal behalf as well as Vidya Vikasini Institutions we would like to wish Siloam Thomas Eye Hospital the very best in the service of eye and eye care going forward on this auspicious occasion.

Jayalakshmi and Dr. Sarojini Thomas respectively have been best friends for decades now and we take pride in cherishing the fact that both you and Dr. Sarojini Thomas are members of Vidya Vikasini Society more than that you have been an old alumnus of the Institution. We take pride in seeing the rapid modernization and advancement that you are spearheading in the field of Ophthalmology, at Siloam Thomas Eye Hospital.
